Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann is set to join Atletico Madrid on a one-year loan.
Atletico Madrid are planning to use Barcelona forward Antoine Griezmann on loan. For an additional season in lieu of a €40 million permanent signing option. Such a disappointment to Joan La Porta, president of Barca very much. As reported by Mundo Deportivo on Wednesday.
Barcelona let Griezmann move to Atletico Madrid on the last day of the transfer window last summer. The French forward agree to cut his wages to around 40 per cent he receive from Azul Grana to facilitate the transfer ufabet.
According to reports, Griezmann will have to play 50 per cent of the games he can play. And Atletico Madrid will have to pay 40 million euros to sign the French forward on a permanent basis. But the 31-year-old forward has only play 25 games in total so far. So Atletico are not being force to pay that amount and are planning a loan deal for one more season.
Felix has been unable to fully justify his €126m (£107m/$140m) price tag since joining Atletico from Benfica in 2019, but he remains under contract until 2026 and head coach Diego Simeone has publicly insisted that he is a key member of the squad.
GOAL can confirm that Atletico have long been aware of Barca’s interest in Felix, but they won’t be open to negotiating his departure when the transfer window reopens, with his release clause currently set at €350m (£296m/$389m).
